Last May, I saw something on facebook that said “join us and take the 21 day challenge to pray for your boys”. I went to the link that was advertising for it and I fell in love with the heart of the women that was inspired to write a book that has specific prayers for sons.
You can read all about the author Brooke McGlothlin and learn how to get a copy of the book here on her website.
I received a copy of it via ebook. Its called – “Warrior Prayers”.
I dedicate myself to work through each of the prayers created by Brooke throughout the booklet.
I posted a blog about the powerful prayer at the end of the book and I will post the prayer again today for you.
Last week, when our twins were not doing so well in showing each other respect, I thought that it might be a good idea to have them each sit down and write out this prayer that I have been praying for them each morning now for almost a year.
Once they wrote it out, I asked them to read it back to me out loud and I also asked them to personalize it by inputting the word “me” into every plural part of the prayer.
As they prayed this for themselves, I saw their hearts changing right before me eyes, so I thought that I would pass this along for other mother’s who are looking for a good way to discipline in love with their teenage children.
Show them your hearts desire for their lives and future.
Here is the prayer: It is just as purposeful and powerful for little girls.
“Lord, You alone change hearts of stone, to hearts of flesh. Place Your Spirit within (input children’s name) and cause them to walk in Your statutes and to be careful to obey Your rules. For You know the plans that You have for them; plans to prosper them and not to harm them, to give them a future and a hope. Let them fear You, Lord, and thus have a foundation for wisdom and a heart for instruction. Let them receive wisdom and incline their hearts to understanding. Help them not to lean on their own, limited understanding, but in all their ways to acknowledge you so that their paths will be straight. Protect them from walking in the counsel of the wicked and standing in the way of sinners, but lead them to delight in the law of the Lord and meditated on it day and night. May they abide in the shadow of the Almighty and not fear any terror by night. May they walk by the Spirit and not gratify the desires of the flesh. Instead, may they be filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. May their minds and thoughts be fixed on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, anything worthy of praise. May they not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of their minds. May they discern what’s good, acceptable and the perfect will of God. May their love be genuine. May they abhor/hate what is evil; and hold fast to what is good. May they love one another with brotherly affection to the point of outdoing one another in honor. May they do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than themselves. May they lie down and sleep in peace; for You alone, Oh Lord, make them to dwell in safety. Bless them Lord, and keep them, and make Your face shine upon them, and be gracious to them all the days of their life.”
