Freewill Offering

I was inspired yesterday by our Pastors message at Jericho Road church. In the message he gives a call to live the life that God calls us to live as Christians.  He also touched briefly on a topic that I was not too familiar with – Offerings/Sacrifices.  Of course, I have heard of them before and I understand how they work, but I wanted to know more.

So I decided to go a bit deeper this morning in my understanding of that topic and I went to my Concordance and looked up the word “offering”.  I landed and camped out in Exodus 35 & 36.  It talks about some offerings brought to Moses to help build the Tabernacle for the children of Israel.  It mentions how different ones had “willing hearts” to give of freewill offerings.  As I read the beginning of chapter 36, my heart was filled with JOY!

Exodus 36

1So Bezalel, Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the LORD has given skill and ability to know how to carry out all the work of constructing the sanctuary are to do the work just as the LORD has commanded.”

2 Then Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the LORD had given ability and who was willing to come and do the work. 3 They received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to carry out the work of constructing the sanctuary. And the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning. 4 So all the skilled workers who were doing all the work on the sanctuary left what they were doing 5 and said to Moses, “The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the LORD commanded to be done.”

6 Then Moses gave an order and they sent this word throughout the camp: “No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary.” And so the people were restrained from bringing more, 7 because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work.

At Jericho Road, we are in the midst of some powerful things that will cause us to have to work together to receive all that God has for us.  I am praying and believing that God will stir our hearts like He did for the ones who built this beautiful Tabernacle for the Lord.  To the point, where our Pastor has to tell the people to stop bringing and giving so much…. ABUNDANCE!

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
